The Boston Bruins have plenty of future potential when it comes to their players on defense. However, in the upcoming season, the defense group that will be sent out against other defensive groups in the league may not be as impressive as usual.
Puck Prose
The Montreal Canadiens and the Ottawa Senators are blessed with superstars P.K. Subban and Erik Karlsson. On top of that, they have a reliable group of defenders behind those players. The Detroit Red Wings and the Tampa Bay Lightning also have super Swedish defensemen in Niklas Kronwall and Victor Hedman. With Mike Green also landing in Detroit, and Tampa Bay’s group getting plenty of playoff experience last year, these two teams have steady defensive groups going into the upcoming season.
The Boston Bruins are next with their group, mostly because the team still has Zdeno Chara, who will always be a threat on the ice, both offensively and defensively. Aaron Ekblad is becoming the Florida Panther’s big defensive piece, but the full group still has a ways to go before they become as competitive as the other teams.
The Toronto Maples Leafs and the Buffalo Sabres will be letting plenty of young players try to make their respective clubs. However, regardless of who makes the team, the teams should not be very intimidating this season.

The defense in the Atlantic Division is pretty impressive compared to the rest of the league. With such reliable players on the back end, many of these teams have a strong chance of keeping the pucks out of the net. If the Boston Bruins are going to be a team to be taken seriously this year, their defense is going to have to keep up with the other great defensive teams in this division.
