Dennis Seidenberg is back in Boston and he’s not happy with how his name has been floating around the rumor mill all summer. The 34-year old defenseman will need to have a bounce back season to make up for last season’s performance.
“If I had heard it from the GM then I would have been concerned, but the thing that bothered me was that people even talked about it. That’s kind of a slap in the face. It means you’re not playing your best, and you obviously want to play to a level where people don’t question you,” Seidenberg told the Boston Herald. “On the other hand, you have to focus on your own game and not worry about what people say. If it comes from the top, then you have to be worried about it, but I’ve never heard anything.
“I’ve read it and I saw it, but at the end of the day, I have to focus on what I have to do.”
While we’re on the subject of 34-year old players that have expensive contracts and the fans wouldn’t mind seeing traded, Chris Kelly is on the ice practicing with the team again. Kelly is looking forward to integrating the new players into the squad and he briefly lamented the loss of so many Bruins from last season. He still believes that the current incarnation of the Black and Gold will be able to get back into playoff contention this season.

“You know, I think we still have a strong group,” Kelly said to the assembled media on the Boston Bruins home site. “I know we lost some guys, but you know, a strong mature group that’s been through a lot, that knows how to handle different situations on and off the ice.”
“And when you look around the room, the guys that maybe haven’t been seen as leaders have grown into those and that’s spread out throughout the room; you can tell.”
Gregory Campbell is settling into his new team. The team over at SB Nation takes a look at what the former Merlot Man can do for the Columbus Blue Jackets. Campbell will certainly improve Columbus’ fourth line, and be an asset to his new team on the penalty kill.
Finally, the team over at Sports Illustrated take a look at ‘The Seven Wonders Of The Hockey World’. While the article does talk about Gordie Howe and Wayne Gretzky, there are plenty of former Bruins in the article.
