The Boston Bruins might not be as excited to have Matt Beleskey on their team as he is.
The Barrie, Ontario native took to Twitter on Monday thanks to the Bruins’ feed, as the team took a visit to Canada to observe the former Ducks’ winger during off-season training. His training regiment proves he’s ready for the season, and it’s not even September yet.
It’s reassuring, from a team standpoint, to see Beleskey work as hard as he is. He’s out to prove to this team that he’s worth the $3 million cap hit. He also looks to prove that last season’s production wasn’t just a one and done year for career high numbers.
Last year was the first season Beleskey scored more than 10 goals since the 2009-10 season when he scored 11. Last season, the winger netted 22 goals. He’ll look to demonstrate that he will be a recurring 20 goal scorer. In Boston, Beleskey could see first line minutes. Depending on how matters align, Beleskey has the potential of scoring 30 goals with this team next season.
In an interview with BostonBruins.com, Beleskey reiterated his excitement for the season to commence.
“I’m ready to go. This is always the hardest part of the summer, when you’ve been training and you’re kind of sick of that. I just want to get out there and start playing,” Beleskey noted.
