The Boston Bruins used their first selection in the 2015 NHL Draft on defenseman Jakub Zboril. The Czech born player provides a very good two-way defender for the Bruins who are potentially looking at the end of the Zdeno Chara and Dennis Seidenberg eras in Boston within the next few years. The young defender is 6’1 and 185lbs, and while his defensive game is superior to his offensive game, he is proficient on both ends of the ice. He is capable of providing points from the back-end, having scored 13 goals and 20 assists for 33 points in 44 game last season in his first year in North America in the QMJHL.

Jakub Zboril skates with confidence and is a very intelligent player. Jakub Zboril shouldn’t be any further than one or two years away from debuting with the Boston Bruins and his complete game will is exactly what is required for a young player to succeed at the NHL level. It is worth noting that he is a strong, puck moving defenseman which is exactly what the Bruins are missing on their team, as Torey Krug is the only efficient puck-mover who is a lock to make the Boston Bruins out of training camp on defense.

Jakub Zboril impressed NHL scouts in his first year in North America, resulting in him being selected in the top 15 of the NHL draft. One comparable player to Jakub Zboril is a player that the Bruins have been linked to for years, Boston native Keith Yandle. Jakub Zboril does every little thing well, and isn’t afraid to hit, or take a hit to make a play. At only 18 years old, Jakub Zboril has a long time to polish his game and really become a potential elite defender in the NHL. The Boston Bruins may have hit a home run by selecting Jakub Zboril with the 13th pick in the 2015 draft.
