Want to know what Brett Connolly is all about and what he is made of? Glass. He is made of glass.
The newly acquired twenty-two year old who was traded to Boston early Monday morning took to the ice for his second practice today.During practice he took a puck to the hand and left practice early for evaluation. This afternoon the news broke that Connolly has a displaced fracture in his right index finger that will have him sitting in the balcony for six weeks.

The forward had already been showing progress with the Bruins, practicing among the third line with the grey jerseys, where as yesterday we saw him donning the Merlot jersey in place of Jordan Caron. Unfortunately we will have to wait another six weeks to see what this guy is made of. One of his biggest assets was his speed, a trait the Bruins would have benefited from had he been able to stay healthy. However, healthy and the Bruins have not been synonymous this season, or with luck for that matter.
With Connolly going down and out, Eriksson will likely be put on the right wing for the third line with Daniel Paille taking the left wing slot. Once Gregory Campbell is able and ready to come back (which should be soon), Chris Kelly could fill in on the left side to give Campbell his fourth-line spot back.
Da Windy City
The positive from today’s practice, Gregory Campbell returned. While he was taking light contact today, it was only his first practice back and he is deemed “doubtful” for Thursday’s match up against Calgary.
“Today was his first day with some contact, so we’ll see,” said Julien. “I would qualify him as doubtful for tomorrow just because we’re healthy right now. We may extend it a little bit, but definitely a weekend decision could be made on him. But we’ll more than likely keep him out .”
Campbell has missed the last three games with an upper body injury that will likely keep him out at least one more game. In his absence, tomorrow night we should see a line that consists of Brian Ferlin, Chris Kelly and Max Talbot. When Campbell was asked how he was feeling after his first day of practice he stated;
“I’m honestly taking it day by day. These kinds of injuries tend to stick around for a while, so it’s not as much pain threshold as making sure everything is intact, and it’s safe to play and compete and stuff.”
