What’s Bruin? Boston Bruins Head into March on a High Note

After having a difficult February winning just 4 out of 12 games, the Boston Bruins are heading into March on a 2-game winning streak. After dropping a 2-0 lead in the third period, the Bruins topped the NJ Devils 3-2 after an overtime goal from Ryan Spooner – his first NHL goal. The next day, they faced the Arizona Coyotes and dominated with a 4-1 win. The Bruins will have a few days off, but hopefully the momentum from the past two games will keep them moving forward.

Calgary Flames

More from Causeway Crowd

On Thursday March 5th at 7pm EST, the Bruins will welcome the Calgary Flames to the Garden. After a disastrous collapse the last time they met, the B’s will need to bring their A game to redeem themselves. When the Flames and Bruins last met, the Bruins dominated the first half of the game. At 50 seconds into the second period, Krug brought their lead to 3-0 and a win looked promising. But six minutes later it all fell apart. The Bruin’s ended up losing in overtime when T.J Brodie of the Flames tapped the puck past Tuukka with just two seconds left. The Bruins will have to use their young players to bring the speed and win races in order to beat the Flames, take the two points and continue on their road to the playoffs.

Philadelphia Flyers

For their last matchup of the season, the Bruins will host the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday March 7th at 1pm EST. The B’s are looking to sweep the series after taking the first two with 2-1 and 3-1 wins. In their first game of the season, the Bruins hosted the Flyers at home. They were able to get the win thanks to a late, third period goal by Chris Kelly to come out on top 2-1.

The next time the B’s met the Flyers, David Pastrnak stole the show. Playing in his seventh NHL game, Pastrnak scored his first two goals and showed the coaching staff why he deserved a permanent spot on the roster.

“He’s a good player, for him to get those two goals, especially the first one, kind of gets the monkey off his back, gets him some confidence. Now he knows he can score in the NHL. That’s big; took me 40 games. It’s good to see him get the first one, and the second one as well. Hopefully from now on he’ll feel more comfortable with the puck.” David Krejci on line mate, Pastrnak.

With some fast legs from Spooner and Pastrnak, as well as the veteran players’ skills, the Bruins should continue forward into March with a positive outlook in order to gain some points and secure their playoff spot.
