Well, Peter Chiarelli didn’t take too kindly to the media and their recent criticism. The Bruins general manager talked to the Boston Globe over the rough press the Black and Gold’s front office have received.

“Whether it’s Cam or Charlie who said we’re all under review, I understand that,” said Chiarelli. “We’ve had a lot of success here in my tenure and Claude’s tenure. We’re having a down year. It’s unfortunate that we’re under review for one year. But I understand. We’ve got to make things better.”
Chiarelli is partially correct. This has been the worst year the Bruins have seen with him at the helm. It’s the first time the Bruins have lost six games straight since 2010. The team has lost confidence in itself. The Bergeron line is playing well. That’s about it. Sure, the Krejci line and the Soderberg line have their moments of brilliance, but overall the offensive energy is still way too hit or miss in Boston.
The B’s recent coaching mistakes certainly haven’t helped their situation. They call up Malcolm Subban for the first time, and then choose not to play him. Then they call him up again. The ‘smart’ play would have been playing Subban against an Edmonton team that was only now finding it’s game. Instead, they put Rask in the net. Then they chose to put Subban in against the St. Louis Blues, a team that has talent, cohesion, and an identity.

The Bruins also put in Jordan Caron and Matt Bartkowski, choosing to sit the slumping Daniel Paille on the ninth level as a healthy scratch.
The first period looked promising. Subban stopped the first three shots on net, and the Bruins had a 1-0 lead after twenty minutes. Caron was throwing around a few Lucic quality hits, and Matt Bartkowski was playing some solid hockey.
Then the second period started and everything just fell apart. Subban let in three soft goals, forcing a very aggravated Tuukka Rask to get back in the net for the B’s. The Blues continued to fire on all cylinders, and the frustrated Bruins lost all synchronicity. The team floundered to an embarrassing 5-1 loss. If Chiarelli thought his problems were bad going into today, he’s not going to even want to pick up a paper or read anything online tomorrow.
“In what has been the one constant all season, the management and coaching staff has not only shown the ability to screw up a free lunch, they are damn near going bankrupt in the process.” Kevin Flanagan – Boston Sports Desk
The B’s tenuous grasp over the last playoff slot is slipping, and they’re about to be eclipsed by Shawn Thornton(another mistake by the Boston front office)and the Florida Panthers.
The B’s desperately need to have a fresh start here. They’ve got to do something(anything really). If that requires a 6 A.M. bag skate to get things moving, so be it. If it means that Coach Claude Julien take two steps back and let Zdeno Chara have a players only meeting, great. The Bruins are having a Torontonian level meltdown here, and it certainly doesn’t help that they’re taking on the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday.
