The Boston Bruins head into the new week on a high note after topping the Isles 2-1 on Saturday night for their last meeting of the season. The B’s fell behind the Islanders in the first, but tied it up with a power play goal off of Patrice Bergeron’s stick. After a scoreless second, they took the lead thanks to a back-handed goal from Eriksson and that was all they needed to take the game – and the series. They will need to keep the momentum going as they face a challenging week ahead.
Montreal Canadiens
The B’s will face the Montreal Canadiens tonight at 7:30pm EST for the fourth and final time this regular season. So far, the Bruins have yet to take any points from the Canadiens, losing each game this season – all of which were on the back-half of back-to-back games for the B’s. Their first meeting looked promising, but having too many penalties – including the now infamous misconduct penalty for Lucic – caused the Bruins to fall 6-4. The other two games were one-sided leading to a 5-1 and 2-0 win for the Habs. Having won nine out of the last twelve games, the Bruins have the momentum and drive to take the final game of the series against Montreal.
Dallas Stars
On Tuesday February 8th at 7:00pm EST, the Boston Bruins will welcome the Dallas Stars for their second and final meeting of the season. The B’s dominated the Stars, as well as their former first-round pick and current NHL points’ leader, Tyler Seguin, winning the game 3-1. The goals came from Loui Eriksson, Gregory Campbell and Dougie Hamilton. Aside from having too many penalties, including three from Adam McQuaid alone, the B’s played an impressive game and should bring the same effort and skill to their next meeting against the Stars.
Vancouver Canucks
The Bruins will travel to Vancouver to take on the Canucks on Friday February 13th. This will be their first match-up of the season. Both teams are currently hanging onto the final playoff spot for their conference and will be fighting hard to take the two points. With a lot of depth and veteran players on their roster, Vancouver is not going to be an easy team to beat. The B’s will have to come out strong and fast to notch a couple of points. Knowing their history, it should be an exciting and high-emotion game.
