“So for us it doesn’t really matter who is in the net. Obviously he’s one of the best goaltenders out there, but it is what it is.”-David Krejci
The New York Rangers have pulled goalie Henrik Lundqvist from the starting position for tonight’s game against the Boston Bruins and have placed him on the injured list due to a throat injury he suffered on Saturday.
Lundqvist took a puck to the throat when the Rangers played the Hurricanes, but stayed in the game. He was also in net for the Rangers game against the Florida Panthers where he helped them secure a 6-3 win. All things pointed to him starting tonight, but there were some complications that came up putting Cam Talbot in the spotlight. This is good news for the Bruins.

Cam Talbot was the goaltender in net when Boston swept them 3-0 at the Garden before the NHL All-Star break on January 15. While the news is surprising, Coach Vigneault assured media and fans that the former Vezina-winning netminder was not suffering from a concussion.
When Claude Julien was asked about his approach, given the sudden news he stated;
“We never change our game plan based on a goalie. You always want net-front presence and you always want shots on net no matter who’s in net,” Julien said. Sometimes it’s harder versus one than the other, but I know that Talbot has been a really good goaltender for them. I’ve been watching him since last year, and he’s a pretty solid guy. So I don’t think there’s any reason to let our guard down.”
Talbot stopped 26 of the 29 shots he faced, earning a 2.16 goals against average and .926 save percentage.

Lucic Projected to Be In the Line Up
While Milan Lucic was missing from both yesterday and today’s practice, he is on his way to New York to join the team and is expected to be in the lineup tonight. While he recovered from a round of the flu Jordan Caron took his place during practice alongside Krejci and Pastrnak.
“He’s on his way,” Julien said. “He’s feeling better. So I guess he’s projected to play tonight if he’s on his way.”
