Coming off a 3-1 win against the reigning champs, the Boston Bruins are ready to face the week ahead. The LA Kings headed to Boston expecting to take two points, but the B’s shut them down with some fast-moving offense and a strong force in the net. Tuukka Rask gave the B’s another high-quality game with 30 saves and Brad Marchand showed off his skills, landing
three
two pucks in the net. Facing the two New York teams this week, the B’s will need to bring the same effort as they did against the Kings to come out with four points.
New York Rangers
“I feel good out there. I’ve felt pretty good all year, but obviously now, the luck has been on our side a little bit more, too, and I feel more confident out there.” Tuukka Rask said about his – and the team’s – recent performance boost.
On Wednesday, February 4th at 8pm EST the Bruins will head to NY to take on the Rangers for their 2nd meeting of the year. In the previous game, the Bruins won 3-0 to cap off a 5 game winning streak on January 15th. Tuukka Rask was an ace in the net, stopping all 30 shots on goal to get the shutout. Bergeron, Krejci and Eriksson all notched a point for the three goals, while Krug extended his point tally by getting two assists. To top off a great night, it was announced that rookie David Pastrnak would be signed to his entry-level contract. The B’s have been looking good as of late, so let’s hope for another positive outcome against the Rangers.
New York Islanders
For their 3rd meeting of the year, the Bruins will welcome the Islanders to Boston on Saturday, February 7th at 7pm EST. After falling to the Islanders in their first game, the B’s tied up the series with a 5-2 win on January 29th. Tuukka was the MVP of the game with a season-high 45 saves – including a few incredible ones. Former Bruin, Johnny Boychuk, tried to lead his team to victory with some rockets, but the B’s were unstoppable. Reilly Smith and Milan Lucic both showed the fans why they deserve a spot on the team by notching three points each. Krejci got two and Bergeron, Hamilton, Miller, Krug and Chara each got a point a piece. If they keep their momentum going, the B’s are headed for a win in the final game of the series against one of the best – and most surprising – teams in the league.
