“A win tonight would make the trip home nice.” – ‘Chief’
Once again the Boston Bruins are set to take on familiar friend Jarome Iginla and the Colorado Avlanche. In their first meeting of the season the Avalanche were able to secure a last second goal from Daniel Briere to secure a one-goal victory. Tonight, the Bruins will look to even the score as they embark on their second game of back-to-backs following a gritty 3-1 victory over the Dallas Stars last night.
Brad Marchand, after missing the past two games due to a suspension, will be re-activated tonight and back along his usual line mates of Patrice Bergeron and Reilly Smith. He took part in the optional morning skate today in Denver, alongside Matt Bartkowski, Jordan Caron and Niklas Svedberg. When asked about returning Marchand stated;
“Real excited to get back. Last game before the break – we want to finish on a good note.”

A Look at the Opponent
The Avalanche are returning home after going 1-2-2 on the road following a 3-1 loss to the St. Louis Blues on Monday night.
“Four points out of 10; you’d like to have a little bit more than .500,” coach Patrick Roy said after practice Tuesday. “But if you look at the trip we had, it was a tough one.”
Puck Prose
Coming off of a disappointing but tough road trip, they’re going to be looking to earn themselves a win at home before heading into the All-Star break. The key players on the Boston Bruins radar should be Alex Tanguay. who currently leads the Avs in points with 31, while tied for the team-lead in goals at 13 with Jarome Iginla and Matt Duchene.
The main focus for Boston should be to contain the Iginla, Duchene, Tanguay line and prevent them from producing any more goals.
A win tonight is crucial for both teams as the Bruins still sit wearily in a Wild Card position while the Avalanche are five points out of spot contention. After the All-Star break the Bruins face a tough 5-game stretch featuring the Islanders twice, the LA Kings, Rangers and, naturally, Montreal Canadiens. A win would help give the Bruins an added boost and a breath of fresh air before digging their heels into difficulty once more.
