David Pastrnak has certainly been just what the Bruins needed. He’s a top six, right-handed shot who looks great on offense. He brings the total package for the resurgent Boston Bruins. Since his return from the AHL, he has pleased Bruins fans with four goals in his last two games, earning two consecutive First Star of the Night honors for those games. Puck Daddy called him ‘David Christ’. (Keeping in mind that PD is certainly no fan of the Bruins organization.) Joe Haggerty says keeping him is a ‘no-brainer’. (I intend to agree with assessment.)

It looks like David Pastrnak will be staying in the NHL for the remainder of the season. Assuming that Peter Chiarelli doesn’t horribly surprise us all, we can look forward to the announcement sometime after the Bruins-Rangers game tomorrow night. Then again, Chiarelli might send the eighteen year old Czech forward down to the AHL so he can compete in the All-Star game. It wouldn’t be out of character for Chiarelli to do something like that, and it would be (sort of) a reward for Pastrnak .

Pastrnak has earned the confidence of the organization as well. Coach Claude Julien stated that the young forward has made ‘unbelievable strides’ in his progress. He’s quickly earning the respect of his teammates as well. The Bruins see him as a teammate that is equal parts playmaker and physical player. He plays to the Bruins identity, and his youth gives him the ability to absorb hits that most 176 pound players can’t take.
Hopefully, Pastrnak will remain productive through the rest of the season. We can also hope that Peter Chiarelli won’t have a gonzo ‘Iginlaesque’ contract waiting for him at the end of his entry-level. It’s important for Chiarelli to lock him up as soon as possible (and not trade him to the New York Islanders for some magic beans, er draft picks).
