The Boston Bruins have finally found some line combinations that are able to produce goals. Today they hope to bring the same effort to Philadelphia as they take on the Flyers in their hometown for a matinee game.
The Boston Bruins opened up their season against the Philadelphia Flyers and were able to come out victorious for their opening night. It was a close game, one that remained tied at one goal a piece until the final 1:51 of regulation when Chris Kelly was able to find a way past the Philadelphia netminder to earn the Bruins their third consecutive win against the Flyers.
Today the Bruins should have one name brewing on their minds, one that they contain to the best of their ability. That name; Jakub Voracek. Voracek not only leads the team in goals (16), assists (33) and points (49), but leads the entire League with his points total. Voracek is a strong player who has speed and knows how to protect the puck well. He has 6 PPG to his name along with 3 game-winning goals, one being from Thursday’s game against the Caps. Close behind him sits Wayne Simmonds and Claude Giroux, compiling the top three forwards of the Flyers roster.

For the Flyers defense, they will be without Nicklas Gossman who got injured in the Flyers’ last game and will be out for three weeks with an upper-body injury. However, they have re-instered Brayden Schenn to the defensive mix, adding strength and size for some added physicality. Prior to Thursday, Schenn had sat out for three of the Flyers past 4 games.
The Boston Bruins are looking for their third-straight victory this afternoon and hope they have finally found the right combinations it takes to win. While Loui Eriksson missed the B’s last game against the Devils, he is possible to play in today’s matinee. According to Julien Eriksson still had some swelling in his right hand and wasn’t shooting at practice.

“He’s better than yesterday,” Julien said of Eriksson on Friday, according to CSNNE.com. “We’ll see how he progresses tomorrow and make a decision by game time.”
It is expected that Tuukka Rask will be back between the pipes for Boston, opposite Steve Mason for Philadelphia. Mason currently holds an 8-12-6-1 record, 2.48 goals against average and .919 save percentage.
With both teams currently on two-game win streaks they are both going to be hungry to keep the trend going. We can expect to see an even match-up like we did on opening day and a close scoring game, one that hopefully will end with the Bruins victorious once more.
