“We understand the situation we’re in and what we’ve put ourselves in, so the main thing right now is we’ve got to look in here to bring ourselves out of this situation and improve on our record and if we do that, then we’ll be OK.”-Brad Marchand
The Boston Bruins are still looking for their first win of 2015 after falling to the Ottawa Senators and Carolina Hurricanes in overtime and a shootout over the weekend. While it is nice to gain a point from those games, the Boston Bruins are ready to receive the whole package, the full two points. With frustration setting in with the players and emotions on the rise the Boston Bruins could finally have what it takes to pull off a victory.
Behind every team lies a passion for the game of ice hockey and a determination in the way the play on the ice. The Bruins have been lacking in these two areas this season. Sure, they’ve shown up to the games, skated around the rink, made a few plays, but there was no emotion behind it. They have merely been running through the motions and trying to skate by with what they have and it hasn’t been enough.
Earlier today the Boston Bruins announced Charlie Jacobs as the new CEO of Delaware North and he expressed his distaste and disgust with the current state of the team;
“I’d say, without question, this has been a very disappointing year,” Jacobs stated in a press conference at TD Garden on Tuesday. “It’s unacceptable the way this team has performed given the amount of time, money and effort that’s been spent on this team. To see it deliver the way it has is unacceptable. For us to be a team that’s out of the playoffs is absolutely unacceptable.”

While the media and fans may have held some surprise after hearing this blunt statement, the coaching staff and team knew it was coming and know that it is up to them to change.
“We all know that we’re in that position and we put ourselves in that position, so the fact that they’re saying it isn’t a shock or surprise to anyone,” said Brad Marchand. “We understand the situation we’re in and what we’ve put ourselves in, so the main thing right now is we’ve got to look in here to bring ourselves out of this situation and improve on our record and if we do that, then we’ll be OK.”
As the Boston Bruins embark on their third game of the new year they will bring a new sense of determination, one fueled by frustration that is being felt by the entire team.
“My job in the last couple of days has been really to try and get the guys just to relax a little bit and not be so tense and hopefully these comments don’t make it any worse,” said Julien. “But this is what we have to do, and we’ll get through it.”
