Third Period
“I think its about keep being on our toes, we talk about it a lot, being first on pucks. When we do that usually good things happen.” Patrice Bergeron on how to break through and come out on top of the Hurricanes.
Reilly Smith proving he deserves to be alongside Krejci and Lucic. He has been all over the puck this afternoon, getting chances, rebounds. He has easily been one of the more effective players in today’s game. Daniel Paille had a good opportunity but sent the puck just wide of Khudobin and the net.
With eight minutes and change the Bruins got lucky as the puck bounced off of the stanchion and right in front of a wide open net as Rask went to play the puck behind the net. Fortunately, the Hurricanes were changing up their lines and not pursuing an opportunity.
Not-So-Fun Fact: Through 13:30 of play in the third the Boston Bruins have registered one shot on goal. They are getting outshot by roughly a 2:1 ratio. (29-17 overall through 53:30 of play)
Daniel Paille gets a nice pass to Carl Soderberg in front of the net but it goes wide. Just after David Krejci, Loui Eriksson and Milan Lucic team up for another opportunity. Unfortunately, it’s too little too late for the Bruins as yet another game goes to overtime. A game that should have never required additional minutes. They were outshot 9-2 through the final frame, which at this point, has to throw a red flag at upper management.
