I think we’ve been a little spoiled as Bruins fans these last few seasons. A lot of fans lived through the disappointment in the last twenty years before Claude Julien and Peter Chiarelli showed up in Boston.  With those two manning the helm, the Bruins went back to be contenders. Then they won it all in 2014. They got to the Finals two years later. We’ve seen a championship caliber performance out of our team the last few seasons.

“They see my name, and I get zero . They see that I make lots of money, and that I don’t produce. No one cares if I play well, or not. It is what it is. I just have to stay positive.” – Bruins forward David Krejci

Then we ran into this season. (More accurately, the injury gremlins ran right into the Bruins.) The Bruins have had a rough time of it scoring goals. They seem slower, and far less sure of themselves this year. (The injuries certainly didn’t help.)

  • David Krejci has probably had the worst run of it this year. Krejci was out the eleven games in a row due to his reoccurring groin injury. He has missed twenty games so far, and the Krejci that has returned doesn’t look one hundred percent. Krejci commented after practice yesterday, and it certainly wasn’t positive.

“Not many people watch the game,” said Krejci.  “A lot of people just open up the Internet and look at the score sheet. They see my name, and I get zero . They see that I make lots of money, and that I don’t produce. No one cares if I play well, or not. It is what it is. I just have to stay positive. I know that the coaches and upper management…they watch the games, so I just try to stay away from the Internet and try to stay away from what’s happening.”

“You just focus on the game because that’s all that you can control. People talk. I feel like I play pretty good game. But then I’ll have another game tomorrow with no points, and people will be talking ‘Oh, he’s back for a few games now and he’s not producing. What’s happening?’ No one cares, you know? Nobody knows how I did in the game. I’ve been here for a long time, and I think I’ve learned my lesson staying away from all these things. If you do pretty good then people write good stuff about you, but if you don’t they write some bad stuff. I just want to keep it positive, come to the rink excited and work hard.”

Well, Krejci took his own advice tonight. He had a solid performance tonight. While there were a few mishaps, he didn’t jeopardize his team in a 5-3 win over the Nashville Predators. Krejci earned the B’s only power play goal tonight, helping to give the B’s a 2-1 lead in the first period. He was a +1, and was fifty-eight percent in the faceoff circle.  He put in three plus minutes on the power play, and 18:48 overall ice time.

Now, David Krejci gets to have a three day break and enjoy his Christmas. He’s now got four goals this year, and it looks like he’s getting back to the level we’re used to seeing him play at.
