Our Boston Bruins, Go big, bold or stay small?

There has been a lot of talk about the Bruins defensive woes of late. I have written about their need to trade for a Defenseman to replace Dennis Seidenberg. I have also asked FanSided readers the question of whether the B’s should trade Brad Marchand or not. But what if the Bruins could; 1. Find a good replacement for Seidenberg and 2. Improve at Left Wing by trading Marchand all in one trade.

Bruins G.M. Peter Chiarelli could simply trade for a Defenseman, possibly even one of the guys I listed on my “Top 10 Defenseman list”, (Link below) than call it a day.

Or he could go big and acquire a top 6 winger, get rid of a headache in Marchand and acquire that same Defenseman.

What I am suggesting is the Bruins go for the bigger deal and try to acquire Evander Kane and big (6’-5”) Keaton Ellerby (Defensive Dman) from the Winnipeg Jets.

*If you don’t like Ellerby they also have; Mark Stuart or Adam Pardy who will be Free Agents after this season and may be available.

It has been said that Kane may not be overly happy up in Winnipeg but because of his lack of time in the NHL is not allowed to ask for a trade.

If the Bruins made an overwhelming trade proposal perhaps they could pry the young Winger and one of their Defenseman away from the Jets. I’m not sure exactly what it would take but let’s throw a few names around and see what may stick.

Boston gives:

Brad Marchand (LW), either Carter Camper or Alexander Khokhlachev (C), Matt Fraser or Craig Cunningham (LW), Jordan Caron or Nick Johnson (RW) and Joe Morrow (D), Plus a draft pick.

*Camper, Johnson, Cunningham and Khokhlachev are all in the top 6 (in scoring) for their Providence team. Morrow is the top point producing Defenseman for Providence.

Winnipeg gives:

Evander Kane (LW) 38GP, 14G + 11A= 25Pts, +1, 46PIMs.

Keaton Ellerby (D) 25GP, 2G + 3A= 5Pts, +6, 0 PIMs.

Would you make this trade? Or should the Bruins just acquire a Defenseman?

Personally I’m a bit tired of Marchand and would like to get bigger and more physical at Forward and Defense. As long as we can still hang onto Ryan Spooner I’m happy with any combination that gets us at least a Defenseman.

Go B’s!
