This is the second and final game between the Bruins and the San Jose Sharks. In their last meeting (Oct. 24th) the B’s pulled out a 2-1 victory at home.
Back in the lineup: Loui Eriksson and Shawn Thornton.
In Net: Tuukka Rask and Antti Niemi.
The B’s got off to a physical and aggressive start but failed to attack the net and or get good shots off while in the offensive zone.
Rask, who has not been himself of late, made the toughest of saves between the two Goalies in the game. The Sharks had three legitimate scoring opportunities that Rask made great leg saves on.
After 1 period; 0-0 Shots: 12-9 San Jose
The second period started similar to the first with the B’s being aggressive but not getting quality shots on net.
Once again Rask had more work but stood tall, keeping his team in the game.
*Heavyweight bought of the night was between Kevan Miller (first NHL fight) and Mike Brown. Miller the much bigger player to Brown took care of business in short order.
After 2 periods; 0-0 Shots: 7-6 Boston
The B’s started the third period with a Power Play that was powerless. They did a great job of keeping the puck in the offensive zone but failed to register a shot on net.
The Bruins would get on the board when Ryan Spooner used his speed to disrupt Sharks defenseman Scott Hannan, then Carl Soderberg (6) would battle along the boards until Spooner got the puck again feeding it back to Soderberg who passed to Loui Eriksson, who in turn fired it back to a wide open Soderberg for the goal.
1-0 Bruins win. Shot totals: 25-22 San Jose
Next up for the B’s a Tuesday night game against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Go B’s!
