Honestly, I don’t know if Jose Theodore is going to sign with the Boston Bruins and if you want some more honesty I can tell you I don’t really care one way or the other.
What I do know is that there were reports during the past week that the soon-to-be 37-year old goaltender was about to sign with the Bruins and that he had even already allegedly passed a physical for the team.
Alas Theodore hasn’t signed yet, and then TSN’s Bob McKenzie may have squashed those rumors when he tweeted that there was no truth in any of it and even Theodore’s agent confirmed McKenzie’s sentiments.

So who are we to believe? Like I said before, I don’t know and I don’t really care.
As of right now the Bruins are already slightly over the cap (however they will get more room once they LTIR Marc Savard) and they signed Chad Johnson to be the back up. Young Niklas Svedberg also proved last year in Providence that he deserves a look at the NHL level sometime soon.
The only things that peak my interest about these rumors is the contract length and the money that goes with it (rumored to be 1-year, $800,000-$1.1 million). I also think Theodore would be an upgrade over Johnson and is proven unlike Svedberg, furthermore he’s a guy you know can be a more than capable backup and the investment is minimal.
It would definitely appear to be a win for the Bruins if it happens and at that price, but it won’t make or break them if it doesn’t.
