Here at Causeway Crowd, we’ve got a staff that’s passionate about hockey. We also like to look around the NHL to take a look at deals, players, and plans in motion that one day could shape the future of one of the best teams in the NHL, the Boston Bruins. So, starting today we decided to offer our readers a quick look at various things ‘a-Bruin’ around the NHL, and hope you find them as interesting as we did over here.
With the Bruins loss in the Stanley Cup Final still smarting for us, this author takes a look back at some of the greatest disappointments in the history of NHL Hockey. No surprise, the Boston Bruins have several places on the all time list. Compared to these heartaches from hockey’s past, where would you rate the 2013 Bruins?
A quick look at one of the newest members of the Bruins organization, Reilly Smith. Smith was part of the trade with Dallas that sent Rich Peverley and fan favorite problem child Tyler Seguin to the Stars. It’s a quick look at what he’s done, his potential, and the likelihood he’ll be playing in either Boston or Providence this season
A look back at Marc Savard’s 2006-07 season. Where the Bruins struggled to right their ship, the additions of Zdeno Chara and Marc Savard helped the Black and Gold recover. # 91 had one of his best seasons in the NHL that year. Savard was one of those first pieces of the puzzle that shifted Boston from being the black (and gold) sheep of Boston sports to the perennial Cup contenders they are now.
While we are on the topic of disappointing seasons, and players we’ve grown to miss. Our sister site for the Buffalo Sabres (home of the nicest bunch of fans you could ever disagree about hockey with) Saber Noise offers a look back on of their best development camp teams. It includes a little print about a certain ‘Merlot Man’ who really worked his butt of to impress Bruins Nation last year.
