Once again, the staff at Causeway Crowd has spent the last twenty four hours going over last night’s game. The Boston Bruins came back to the TD Garden hoping to stay undefeated at home. Last night’s opponent was the 2-1 New York Islanders. New York was scrappy early, and forced the Bruins to come back from defecits twice during the first two periods before they finally pulled ahead for good in the third. So, without further adieu, Causeway Crowd’s breakdown of the game.

January 25th 2013 – (Happy 44th Anniversary Mom and Dad) Boston Bruins vs the New York Islanders (Boston @ Home)

Final Score – Boston Bruins 4,  New York Islanders 2

Three Stars of the Game:  3rd: Keith Aucoin (NYI), 2nd: Gregory Campbell, 1st: Dougie Hamilton

Causeway Crowd’s Three Stars of the Game:

3rd Star :  Zdeno Chara – (From Matt)”Chara scored his first goal of the season and the eventual game winning goal.  It must feel good for Chara to score a goal.  I wonder how long he will be able to say he has more goals then Seguin.” The Bruins captain showed a visible sigh of relief when he scored the Bruins go ahead goal in the third period. He led the D-men with 25:33 on the ice, and only had a single two minute penalty. The captain led his team again, and we were happy to see #33 get a goal.

2nd Star : Patrice Bergeron – (From Matt)”Another game in which Bergeron showed why he is one of the teams leaders.  Playing hard and smart and eventually he put the game away in the third with a breakaway goal.”(From Aidan)”Dougie Hamilton set up #37 for the GWG with a beautiful break out pass from our zone followed up by Bergeron’s deke around Dipietro. He came up big in the last minute to seal the deal for the B’s.” Patrice Bergeron has just been amazing from the first puck drop this season. (Yeah, its only been four games, but were allowed to gush about this.) Bergeron had two shots on goal, finished the night with a +1, and was second for ice time (behind David Krejci) with 18:20.

1st Star : Dougie Hamilton – The whole staff here is prepared to learn how to “Dougie”. (From Aidan)”A two point performance from the kid tonight, he’s playing his heart out right now and it’s paying off. He holds down the penalty kill very very well, he’s not afraid to throw his body and his passes for a majority of the game were crisp and tape to tape. He’s been throwing pucks on the net and creating a lot of chances for us. (From Billy)” Kid just looks better and better every game as the confidence grows. He’ll still have his ups and downs but he showed tonight he is the real deal. “(From Matt)” This kid just keeps impressing the Boston fan base with his hockey intelligence.  Dougie had another great game on Friday night with two assists and looks more and more comfortable every game.  A very good sign for the Bruins.”

Dougie is tied for the lead among the Bruins for points (3), tied for second with shots on goal (11), and is playing like he was part of the Bruins line for the last few seasons. The scary thing is that the kid is only going to get bigger. He’s 6’4″ and 200 now, and he’s going to be one of those monsters for us that short of a disaster or a trade(While that reminds me, THANK YOU KESSEL!), the newly minted #27 will be part of the franchise for a decade or longer.

That’s our picks for the Causeway Crowd Three Stars. Feel free to offer comments, corrections, scathing invectives, or just say hi. We’re always here at causewaycrowd. com , and we appreciate you reading us. Stay tuned for our next review of Tuesday night’s Bruins-vs-Devils game.
