The Recching Ball has found new life in the NHL.

The ex-Bruin will be joining the executive office of the Dallas Stars for the 2012-13 season. He along with Marty Turco and Mike Modano are the three new additions to the Dallas Stars front office. It makes sense to see Marty Turco and Mike Modano re-joining the stars. After all Modano played the better part of 21 years with the organization and being apart of the Stanley Cup winning team in 1998-99, and Marty Turco was the Dallas Stars premiere goalie for 10 seasons with 5 consecutive playoff appearances between 2003-04 and 2007-08.

However the addition of Mark Recchi to the Dallas Stars organization I find slightly baffling. Recchi has no connection at all with the Stars organization. But it’s obvious his leadership and Stanley Cup experience are the two reasons the Stars came calling. Recchi played a major role in guiding the 2010-11 Bruins to their Stanley Cup victory, as the 23 year veteran captured the 3rd Stanley Cup of his career. Turco also served some time in Boston, playing emergency relief back up to Tim Thomas in the trails of the 2011-12 season.

Recchi will definitely do well serving Dallas in the role they give him, and his experience should help the team greatly the same it did in Boston.
