At least the Bruins are finally consistent. The only problem is that they are heading in the wrong direction. Following the Bruins’ 3-2 shootout loss to the Canadiens on Thursday night, the Bruins are now 0-7-2 in their last 9 games, which is the second longest losing streak in team history. The Bruins have taken a lowly two of a possible 18 points. What gives?
Since their (at-the-time) triumphant victory in the Winter Classic at Fenway, the Bruins are 2-10-3 over a span of 15 games. They have lost eight straight home games (0-6-2) and have not won at the Garden since before the Classic, on December 30th. In essence, it seems that the Fenway hoopla did not catapult the B’s into the East’s elite as many anticipated following Sturm’s OT game-winner. Instead, they have plummeted so far that their own first-round draft pick may end up being a top-5 pick when the ping pong balls are drawn in April.
