One month ago and two days after the Boston Bruins opened the 2026-27 season with a home win over the New York Rangers, there were still a lot of questions surrounding the Black and Gold. Truth be told, after a 10-4-1 October, there are still questions surrounding the Bruins.
They are sitting on top of the competitive Atlantic Division, but are also just three points clear of the Eastern Conference cutline for the second and final wild-card spot. It seems crazy to be looking at that on November 2, but let's be serious: a lengthy losing streak of any kind can be the difference between burying yourself in the standings, or a winning streak can separate you from other teams in the standings.
However, no matter how well the Bruins play or how badly they play, there are always going to be trade rumors surrounding Boston, and for good reason. Two names that were in rumors a lot to begin teh season, Pavel Zacha and Mason Lohrei, were on Bleacher Report's Trade Block Big Board on October 1, but on November 2, they are nowhere to be found.
2 Bruins missing from Bleacher Report's trade bait board
One month ago, Zacha and Lohrei were on Bleacher Report's top 15 trade board list, and now, neither is to be found. Why is that? Well, there are a couple of reasons.
First, the Bruins are in first place in the division. Second, Lohrei is playing very well, and unless there is a major blockbuster in general manager Don Sweeney's future, there likely won't be a move involving the former Ohio State defenseman.
Then there is Zacha. Unless there is an extension coming before the trade deadline, a trade is likely to come at some point. Bosotn can't afford to lose him for nothing at the end of the season. However, over the last week, there has been some major developments in terms of trade requests around the NHL.
First, Dylan Larkin informed the Detroit Red Wings that he's not going to play in a game until a trade is done. Second, out of nowhere, Nikita Kucherov of the Tampa Bay Lightning requested a trade, but he's going to play for the Bolts until one is done or until the season ends. It doesn't sound like he'll be re-signing in Central Florida.
When it comes to trades in the NHL, things change by the minute, but for now, it appears that Lohrei and Zacha are not part of the top 15 players who could be moved right now, according to Bleacher Report.
