Canucks Score 4 Power Play Goals In Most Exciting Game of the Year!

In a time when few things in life (never mind sports) live up to their hype, yesterdays game between the Vancouver Canucks and the Boston Bruins did just that. The game pretty much had it all, except a happy ending for Bruins fans, as they lost 4-3 to the Canucks on home ice and may have lost Brad Marchand for a few games, as he awaits a hearing with the league for his clip on Sami Salo. The Canucks got all of their offense on the Power Play, scoring 4 times in 11 chances. The Bruins, meanwhile were less disciplined than they were during the Finals and they paid the price. The big blow was a 5 minute power play, courtesy of a dirty hit by Brad Marchand, for the Canucks in which they scored their 3rd and 4th goals of the day, which the Bruins couldn’t recover from.
Coming into the game, the big story was Roberto Luongo ducking out of this game. No matter what they want you to believe, Luongo could have started if he wanted. Typical Canucks!

Well, this should be interesting. 206 days ago, the Bruins beat the Vancouver Canucks in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals to win their first championship in 39 years. Saturday, the Canucks visit Boston for the first time since Game 6 of that series. That was the third of three blowouts the Boston Bruins handed Vancouver in Boston. The beat the Canucks by a combined score of 17-3!. They chased Roberto Luongo in two of those games.

Boston Bruins Opening Night photo by Jason Meserve
It’s kinda weird being a Boston Bruins fan these days. I mean, forever we were shunned, laughed off, ignored, and ridiculed. Most objective observers would agree that the Bruins fan was the last true fan of the four major sports teams. Much like their team, Bruins fans are hardened. They know the game, they know their team, and they know how to be fans.

Seidenberg’s OT Winner Extends Winning Streak To 7

Dennis Seidenberg scored his second goal of the season just 58 seconds into overtime to give the Boston Bruins their seventh straight vicory, 2-1 over the Phoenix Coyotes.
The Bruins scored both of their goals in the first minute and last minute, respectively. Thanks to Tuukka Rask, arguably the Bruins best player last night, Boston was able to hang on through regulation before ending it early in overtime
The win moved the Bruins into first place in the East, 1 point ahead of the New York Rangers, with a game in hand.

Cooke Hit Changes Course of Two Franchises
The Bruins and Penguins have had a lot in common over the years, and not just the color of their uniforms! Recently they’ve both experienced the thrill of winning a Stanley Cup and the agony of losing their best player to a concussion. But the way in which these injuries occurred wasn’t similar at all. One, a devastating, reckless hit on Marc Savard by a guy (Matt bleepin Cooke) who has no respect for his fellow players. The other, a questionable, but by no means dangerous or intentional, hit on Sidney Crosby that some believe wasn’t even the hit that caused the damage.
