Call the Boston Bruins butter, because they are on a roll!  They meet an incredibly familiar opponent today, riding an incredible point streak.

The Boston Bruins are officially the following:  en fuego, v ohni, tulessa, in brand geraten, and a fuoco.  All of those are different ways of saying “on fire” in other languages (Spanish, Czech, Finnish, German, and Italian).  The Bruins have collected a point in FIFTEEN straight games, going 11-0-4 since December 16, 2017.

The Bs are coming off a back-to-back on Wednesday and Thursday that saw them collect two wins against the Montreal Canadiens and the New York Islanders, outscoring the two teams 9-3 in the two contests.  Patrice Bergeron did Patrice Bergeron things, netting his second hat trick in six games in the win over the Islanders.  Also important to note that the Bruins gave up the first goal in both games, yet showed resilience in making sure they scored the next one.

Today’s game marks the third time in a week that the Bruins lace ’em up against the rival Canadiens.  This season’s schedule has felt incredibly unbalanced for the most part in terms of opponents played.  The Bruins played their full season series against some Western Conference opponents (LA Kings, San Jose Sharks, Colorado Avalanche, etc) all before playing against Montreal.

Schedule

The game tonight takes place at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, exactly where the teams played last Saturday night.  Puck dropped is slated for 7:00 pm, and the game will be on NESN and 98.5 the Sports Hub.  Once the game is over we can all head to bed nice and early so we’re well rested for tomorrow’s AFC Championship.  Here’s hoping Boston’s other 40 year old star, Tom Brady, is ready to play.

What to watch for

Adam McQuaid made his way back from injury and slotted back into the lineup the last two games due to Kevan Miller’s illness.  Miller is still out with his illness, so McQuaid will stay in the lineup.  It’s hard to imagine or even contemplate, but McQuaid may very well be auditioning at this point.  His currently partner, Matt Grzelcyk, stepped in to replace McQuaid and firmly entrenched himself on the blue line.  How will Cassidy handle having everyone back?

Tuukka Rask started the last game for the Bruins against the Islanders, and as the #1, he will likely start today.  There is no doubt that the improvement in Rask’s play correlates to the Bruins playing dominant hockey since late November.  Rask hasn’t lost in regulation since November 26, 2017.

Next: Boston Bruins depth is key to success

Today is Sean Kuraly’s birthday.  The youngster is currently centering the Bruins 4th line.  He and Noel Acciari and Tim Schaller have provided incredible forward depth for the Bs which has allowed them to rely less on their top-6 for heavy minutes.
