David Pastrnak has shown flashes of brilliance at the NHL level already in his young career, although he did show some defensive-flaws that are common among young players in the NHL. Pastrnak had a solid season this year despite missing time due to injury. In 51 games in the NHL this season, David Pastrnak scored 15 goals and 11 assists for 26 points. In his final five games of the season, Pastrnak scored three times which was a testament to his clutch-timing and ability to break open a game if necessary.

As mentioned by Joe Haggerty of Comcast Sportsnet New England, David Pastrnak is also expected to play for the Czech Republic in the World Cup of Hockey tournament that is returning on September 17th of this year. With the opportunity to play for the Czech Republic at the World Junior Championships, the World Championships, and potentially the World Cup of Hockey, David Pastrnak is being provided a very big platform to showcase his ability and continue his already-quick development to the world of professional hockey.

The development of the 19 year old Czech winger is crucial next season with David Pastrnak‘s third and final year of his Entry Level Contract starting.David Pastrnak looks like he’s in line for a reasonable bridge-contract as of right now, but if he has a breakout year during the 2016-17 season, he might be in line for a major payday sooner rather than later. The right wing position is one that the Bruins have emphasized as an area of need this offseason, and David Pastrnak stepping up consistently is something the Bruins could certainly use.

Next: David Krejci To Have Offseason Hip Surgery

David Pastrnak will have to play in the World Championships without fellow Czech Republic-native and Boston Bruins forward David Krejci. The Bruins’ center announced that he would be required to undergo surgery earlier in the offseason which also means he will be unable to participate for his home country in the World Championships this year. The decision for surgery was made to get Krejci ready for the Bruins’ training camp next season which could also put Krejci in line to play for the Czech Republic at the World Cup of Hockey
