Providence Bruins Geared For Deep Playoff Run With All The Right Pieces In Place

The Providence Bruins are heading into the Calder Cup playoffs on a high note after winning all three of their games last week to wrap up their AHL regular season schedule. The Providence Bruins enter the playoffs as the second seeded in the Atlantic division after finishing their regular season with 41-22-9 record which was good enough for 95 points.

Here is the press release from the Providence Bruins regarding their first round playoff series match-up with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. The first round series is a best of five match-up with Providence having home ice advantage over the Penguins.

The first two games are at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, and they the third game is at home in Providence. Games four and five are in Providence as well but those will only be played if they are necessary.

Last week the Boston Bruins stacked the deck down in Providence by sending forwards Maxime Talbot, Frank VatranoNoel Acciariand young defensemen Colin Miller to join the P-Bruins in their quest to win the Calder Cup. Talbot, Vatrano, Acciari, and Miller are joining a P-Bruins roster that is chock full of talent. Some of the leaders on the team are Seth Griffith, Alexander Khokhlachev, Austin Czarnik, and Brian Ferlin among others.

With the Boston Bruins down for the count it is a relief for Bruins fans that the AHL affiliate is alive and doing incredibly well this season. The P-Bruins are coached by former player Bruce Cassidy, who turned an ugly start to the season, into a season that saw players like Frank Vatrano score more goals than games played in. With the team that Providence has it would be no surprise if they run the table and take home the Calder Cup Trophy when the AHL playoffs are over. With the Boston front office looking for pieces to rebuild their team, maybe a Providence run will make them decide to fill some of their roles from within the organization.
