Boston Bruins: Not Good Enough
The Boston Bruins played a solid 25 minutes of hockey against the Chicago Blackhawks this afternoon. They put up four goals and looked like a playoff team. Unfortunately, the Blackhawks had played a solid 35 minutes before that and put in six goals. With the Bruins loss, they find themselves one point behind the Detroit Red Wings with only three games left in the regular season.

The Bruins know what they’ve got to do. It’s just a matter of them actually putting in the effort.
“I think the approach has got to be the same, just playing one game at a time and just leaving everything on the ice,” said Patrice Bergeron of the Bruins loss. “And playing for 60 minutes. We have to do that. We need to realize that 20 or 30 is not good enough.”
“The way that we played, at the end, we’ve got to carry that over. I thought the third period was a perfect example of how we need to play — and we got the goals. I mean, it’s pretty obvious that if we would have played the way we played halfway through. But you can’t wait for them to score, I don’t know, four, five goals to get going, especially at this time.”
The Bruins have to win all three games now. They’ve also got to hope that the Detroit Red Wings, Philadelphia Flyers, and New York Islanders make mistakes in their final games as well. For the second year in a row, the Bruins have lost control of their own destiny. Still, the Black and Gold have hope for their postseason.
“Win our last three games, and we’re in the playoffs,” Torey Krug said after the loss in Chicago. “We know that. We know what’s at stake. You’ve got to take them one game at a time.”
“I think last year, we got caught up looking a little bit too far ahead of ourselves, but it’s a different story this year. We’re going to take it one game at a time, learn from everything that’s happened so far.”
