The Boston Bruins have a very loaded right side and that includes Seth Griffith. Drafted in the 5th round of the 2012 draft, Seth Griffith is a very skilled player. Known mostly for his offensive game, Griffith has superb speed and a high hockey IQ which allows him to play competently without getting overwhelmed, even if he is only 22 years old. Griffith has a high compete level and isn’t afraid to go head-to-head with some of the more physically intimidating forwards and defenders around the league. Griffith is the type of player that motivates others by simply competing hard every shift and getting the job done.

Fans of the Boston Bruins might remember some of the highlight real goals that Griffith scored last season, including the “Bobby-Orr” goal against the Wild. If that doesn’t ring a bell, perhaps his no-look, between the legs goal against the New Jersey Devils in which he split the defense of captain Bryce Salvador and Marek Zidlicky by hustling through the middle of ice and never giving up on the play might. Seth Griffith brings a strong motor to a Bruins team that appeared to lack motivation for much of the 2014-15 season.

If you forgot about them, here they are:

The downfall to Griffith, albeit a small one (no pun intended) is his size. At 5’9, 192lbs, Griffith is not as large as most teams would like, hence his 5th round draft status. The Bruins don’t seem too hesitant on undersized players, as two integral pieces in Torey Krug and Brad Marchand are both high-motor, high offense players who stand at 5’9 each. If Seth Griffith shows that he wants to play in the NHL badly enough, it will be impossible for Claude Julien to keep him on the bench or in Providence for long. The Bruins are in a retool, and the roster is far from locked in; expect Griffith to do his best to pry his way in come the preseason.
