There is something special about the Boston Bruins. A few months ago, they team took a moment to celebrate one of their most special fans, Liam Fitzgerald. Liam, who has Down’s Syndrome survived cancer and was named ‘Fan of the Year’ by USA Today in 2014. Liam was awarded his own Upper Deck hockey card.  Class acts like these make hockey the best sport in the world.

There is some good news from the world of analytics regarding the Boston Bruins. With their 3-2 overtime loss against the Ducks, the Bruins chances of making the postseason increased. The Bruins now have a 36.4% chance of making the playoffs. (Sadly, we have to thank the New York Rangers more than we can thank our own Black and Gold.) The chances of the B’s winning the Stanley Cup this year is holding at 0.5%.

  • Well, it could be worse. We’re not the Buffalo Sabres.

Puck Daddy did a piece on how miserable the team is over their fans actively routing against them. With the Sabres 4-3 overtime loss to the Phoenix Coyotes, the team was rewarded by a loud ovation from their fans at home.  Sure the Sabres fans want to win the draft pick, but they shouldn’t be alienating their own team in the process.

Brian Ferlin was sent back down to Providence after the Anaheim game. Ferlin played seven games in Boston and earned an assist for the B’s.

Initially, I thought the Anaheim goal that tied wasn’t interference. After seeing this tweet, I’ll admit I was wrong. Looks like this goal shouldn’t have counted. Bruins haven’t caught many breaks this season, and this is one more we can add to the running total this season.
