The playoffs are still a few weeks away, but with the Boston Bruins sitting outside of a postseason spot, things are looking a little bleak. However, as all Boston sports fans know, you can never count the Bruins out.

“”Overall, these next nine games will tell the tale of our season” Claude Julien

Although they have been plagued by injuries throughout the season, the Bruins have held onto a pretty good spot in the Eastern Conference. They are out of the postseason as of right now, but they stand only one point behind the Ottawa Senators who are holding the 2nd wild card spot. With nine games left in the regular season, the B’s can easily get back into playoff position.

Throwback to the First Playoff Win

To give the B’s a little positive karma going into the last stretch of the season, let’s take a look back at their first playoff game, which turned into a win.

On March 29, 1927, the Bruins squared off against the Chicago Blackhawks in their first playoff game ever. They played the game at Madison Square Garden and secured their victory with a 6-1 win. Frank Frederickson scored the first playoff goal by a Bruins’ player.

Some More Good Karma

Also on March 29th, but in 1929, the Bruins won their first Stanley Cup against the New York Rangers. Since the Bruins will host the Rangers Saturday, a little more positive thoughts couldn’t hurt. It was a true playoff finals game with the B’s coming out with a 2-1 victory after a late third-period goal by Bill Carson.

Having lost their playoff position due to some sloppy play, the Bruins will have to step up their game over the next nine matchups to make it into the postseason. They will need to play as a team, not turnover pucks and backup Tuukka so that they can take a bunch of points and continue their season.
