“It’s going to be a really big test for us,” said Rask. “It’s going to be tough and we really need to play solid hockey and get back to our style of hockey for 60 minutes and not just 20 minutes.”

The Boston Bruins have returned to Boston and are looking to get back on track as they take on the Carolina Hurricanes today at 1:00PM. This will be the first meeting for these two teams this season, one that should prove to be entertaining…hopefully.

Last season the Bruins swept the Hurricanes, winning all three of their meetings, only one being decided in overtime. This season the Bruins should be able to have much of the same outcome, especially given the way Carolina has started off this season. The Canes started off the season 1-5-2 and are beginning a seven-game road trip coming off of a loss to the Winnipeg Jets. It has been announced by the team that they will place Cam Ward in net against the Bruins, who looks to bounce back from the loss against Winnipeg.

For Boston it is expected that Tuukka Rask will be back between the pipes and look for some sort of redemption after Wednesday night’s pitiful performance where he allowed 4 goals on just 16 shots.  Defenseman Matt Bartkowski will also be looking to improve on his team worst -4 rating on the season as he gets the nod to be re-inserted into the lineup.  Bartkowski will be taking Zach Trotman‘s place among the defensive pairings, placing him with Torey Krug.

The Bruins need to get back to their big and bad style of hockey. The new philosophy that has them playing soft clearly isn’t working for them. The defense needs to remain tough in front of the net and have good communication, something that was lacking in the road trip to Canada. After practice on Friday Tuukka Rask admitted that the next few games are going to be a challenge for the Bruins and that they would need to get back to the way they know how to play.

“It’s going to be a really big test for us,” said Rask. “It’s going to be tough and we really need to play solid hockey and get back to our style of hockey for 60 minutes and not just 20 minutes.”

If the Bruins can find a way to get back to their old ways and keep the turnovers and penalties at a minimum, there is no reason why they can’t beat the Hurricanes this afternoon.
