According to Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli, Bergeron suffered a broken thumb and will not require surgery.  Chiarelli said that the thumb will be mobilized for two weeks and it is possible that Bergeron could return at that point.  This is better news than earlier reports that said that Bergeron could miss up to six weeks.

With the injury to Bergeron, Miroslav Satan will make his Bruins debut tonight in Ottawa, about a week earlier than expected.  It will be interesting to see how Satan jumps into game action.  He is expected to play alongside David Krejci and Blake Wheeler on the second line.  Here is a look at the rest of Boston’s lines tonight in the aftermath of Bergeron’s absence:

Sturm-Savard-Recchi

Wheeler-Krejci-Satan

Paille-Begin-Ryder

Thornton-Sobotka-Bitz

Defensive pairings: Chara-Wideman, Ference-Boychuk, Morris-Hunwick

Tim Thomas will get the start in net
